ÿþFinding a Good Book For Kids and Teens It is difficult to find a single "adult" book for children and teens. The kids themselves have their own books, magazines, and music, and the vast majority of the adult works are geared towards adults, with very little or no touch in the children's realm. This makes finding a book geared toward kids and teens a particularly difficult endeavor. It can be an adventure in how much "adult material" actually is out there and how much is just meant for the adults. I'd like to share with you a few of my favorite selections for both kinds of material. Starry Night by Charles Perrault is one of the most famous children's stories ever written. I think it's because of the naive joy that is found in a lot of adult stories, and I love that aspect of this story. Because there are so much about death and everything bad in this story, as well as a lot of mystery and philosophy, I find it incredibly moving. Adults will find it inspiring too. Jenny Harvey's first book was titled Summer Has Come for Dora the Explorer. It is a very fun story that the girls enjoyed reading at an early age. Most of the adults I know would find this story fantastic, and it is perfect for both kids and teens. Penelope Gale's first book is called The Wedding March of Tom Sawyer. This story is incredibly sweet and appropriate for the sweet little girls and boys who will probably enjoy this book the most. The boys enjoyed reading it more than the girls, but I think the girls may be a little less likely to finish it. My daughter still wants to read it though. And of course there is Petunia Smith's Herbs, a must-read for anyone who loves books, poems, and love poetry. Herbs and poetry are great for both teens and kids. Herbs really teach children how to love and express their feelings. You can also check out her books about fashion, cooking, friendship, health, and many other topics. There are several great kids and teens books that I love to read for my own children, and others that I have had the privilege of helping with. Not to mention some other books for teens. Just the other day, I finished The Golden Rule for my daughter. It is the same story that my mother read to me over again when I was a child. It is one of those classics that kids and teens will really appreciate. The earlier chapters start off the same way as the later chapters do, with a story about the lessons taught in the earlier chapters and some lovely illustrations. It isn't the kind of book I recommend highly, but it is one of the few children's books I'd recommend to a reader who is looking for something different from the usual. Lis Bates' first book, The Maid's Delight, is another wonderful children's story with fairy tale overtones. I loved it when I was a child, and the same can be said for my son. She has published a second book and plans to continue working on children's books in this vein. In addition to these three books, Bates has written many other stories for children and teens. Her primary focus is not on the Bible or religion, but instead is a story that uses the teachings of Jesus to help kids understand what their life lesson is and why. She also writes a bit on parenting, families, and other topics, so there is a lot of good, helpful information that parents and teens can learn from her writing. Anyone who is looking for a good book to read for a little child or teen should checkout her writing, as it is very unique and educational. I also like the fact that she includes the teaching tools of baby steps. That is what I call "pizzazzazz." If you are going to try to find a good book for your children and teens, I hope you take a look at some of these books. before making a decision on which ones to purchase.
